    AP® courses at Athena’s cover the content needed to prepare for the College Board’s AP® exams. The content of the AP® courses at Athena’s cover introductory college-level material.

    Since AP® courses are courses that span the school year, AP® course enrollment is only available during the fall enrollment period. Watch for AP® and fall enrollment beginning in March for the upcoming school year.

    Note to Parents: 

      • Students do not have to take the AP® exam to benefit from the courses.
      • If your student plans to take the AP® exam, arrangements will need to be made with a local school. Information about how to do this will be provided.
      • There will be time outside of the weekly webinar to get additional help.
      • It is important to work on the subject throughout the week. There will be additional optional meet times for the course so that students can get support. The days and times will be chosen to meet the schedules of the students.

    What to expect in the Required sections in the classroom:

    • Information and instruction to introduce students to the material.
    • Activities to promote academic growth.
    • AP® Courses include readings and practice for the AP® exam.

    What to expect in the Highly Suggested & Optional sections in the classroom:

    • Curated resources, including websites & videos, are provided to excite learners and to add depth to the subject matter.

    What to expect during the webinar:

    • Weekly webinars are 50 minutes long. Webinars are recorded and are available for students with schedule conflicts.

     

    Before taking the courses, students should: 

    • Read and write at the high school level.
    • Meet the course’s prerequisites.

    Students should be willing to:

    • Be prepared for the webinar.
    • Actively participate (via the microphone and chat) in the class discussion.
    • Respond with positive and encouraging comments on their classmates’ posts in the classroom forums.

    Required books & materials:

    • Additional books & materials will be located on each course description webpage.
    • Most courses include the AP® Classroom (Free, you will receive an access code in the course).
