Okay, you asked for it and you got it—a Jackbox class. In fact, these 20-40 minute party games can improve many skills. Some focus on giving quick, witty answers, while others use reasoning, problem solving, and writing skills.
You might have to write a rap in three minutes, or cleverly apply for a job with hilariously limited word choice. We’ll do some of all this, while focusing on public speaking. Everyone will get a turn to present their crazy inventions in Patently Stupid, clever jokes in Joke Boat, and spontaneous lectures in Talking Points.
In a supportive environment, everyone will share aloud on their turn to bring their wacky ideas to life. We’ll laugh and laugh.

What to expect in the Highly Suggested & Optional sections in the classroom each week:
- Recommended readings and activities to practice skills
- Curated resources, including websites & videos, are provided to excite learners and to add understanding on public speaking and presentation
What to expect during the weekly webinar:
- Weekly webinars are 50 minutes long. Webinars are recorded and are available for students with schedule conflicts.
- An entire class of gameplaying with helpful suggestions from the teacher to improve public speaking and related skills.
- Active Participation (via the microphone and chat) is encouraged.
Before taking this course, students should be able to:
- Read at a solid 5th-grade level or above.
- Type fluently.
- Write a paragraph independently.
- Have a working microphone
Students should be willing to:
- Write game questions and answer discussion topics for regular homework.
- Speak on their turn and offer supportive comments the rest of the time.
- Actively participate (via the microphone) in the class discussion.
- Encourage class discussion by adding their questions/ideas/humor in the chat window during the webinar.
Required books & materials:
- None (The teacher’s copy of Jackbox 1-9 only requires players to have an internet browser.)
