Come join us for an experimental science class. Each week during the live webinar, we will discuss and carry out a collaborative physics experiment, using either common household items or an online interactive.
After each student has contributed to the group results, we will work together to organize our findings into a table or graph, to make it easier to analyze the data.
Along the way, students will develop an understanding of the scientific method. Students will practice creating a variety of graphs and tables to organize and interpret data.
Notes to parents:
The highlight of the Experimental Physics class is the collaborative experience during the live webinar.
- The only required activity each week is collecting the household supplies for the following webinar.
- Optional readings and videos about the week’s topic are provided for students who want to extend their learning.
- An optional demonstration, design task, or experiment will be provided for students who want to do more hands-on physics.
- An adult or teen must be available to support the student, as necessary, during the live webinar. But don’t worry! These are all tasks that will be easy for an adult or teen: helping with measuring or tying a string, timing an event, entering data on a website, etc. Some activities are easier with an extra pair of hands!
