This 8-week course will guide homeschoolers (aged 12 and older) in setting and achieving their goals.
Why have a goal-setting class just for homeschoolers? Unlike school kids, homeschoolers aren’t part of a “herd.” Our education isn’t handed to us all set up and ready to go. Successful teen homeschoolers don’t just do what they are supposed to—they do what they need to in order to achieve their own goals.
When teens continue to depend on their parents to set and achieve homeschooling goals, tension can arise in the household. The teens feel—quite rightly—that it’s their education and they should be involved in the decision-making. But when teens haven’t learned to identify their goals and the steps needed to fulfill them, it’s hard for them to work with their parents in making educational decisions.
By the end of this course, teens should feel ready to partner with their parents in crafting their remaining homeschool education to meet their personal goals. You, the homeschooler, will join a group of other homeschooled teens in discovering your goals and learning how to attain them.
- Reluctant teens are welcome! This course will help you understand how to feel more in charge of your learning and your life.
Note to parents:
- This course is restricted to students aged 12 and older.
- This course is for the homeschoolers themselves, not for their parents! Parents are welcome to read the text and actively support their teens.
- Parent workshop: The 8th meeting of this course will be a parent workshop with the instructor. Parents will meet in the webinar room and discuss how to support their students. We will address questions and concerns that parents may have.
