This 8-week course will guide students aged 13 and older in setting and achieving their goals.
Why goal-setting? Learning to identify and set goals can help teens take ownership of their education. Teens who feel invested in their learning are more proactive and involved in their educational choices.
Goal-setting also helps on a personal level. When teens continue to depend on their parents to set and achieve educational goals, tension can arise in the household. The teens feel—quite rightly—that it’s their education and they should be involved in the decision-making. But when teens haven’t learned to identify their goals and the steps needed to fulfill them, it’s hard for them to work with their parents in making educational decisions.
Note to parents:
- This course is restricted to students aged 13 and older.
- This course is for the teens themselves, not for their parents! Parents are welcome to read the text and actively support their teens.
- Parent workshop: The 8th meeting of this course will be a parent workshop with the instructor. Parents will meet in the webinar room and discuss how to support their students. We will address questions and concerns that parents may have.
- Although the book is aimed at homeschoolers, the course is appropriate for any teen who would benefit from taking ownership of their education.
This course’s date and time: 7 weeks – Starting Sept. 6, 2019, final parent meeting t.b.a.
