Description
The Inventor in You! is a course in which students will learn to identify and develop characteristics of inventors in themselves. The weekly webinars will provide a forum for talking about wild, crazy and futuristic ideas to develop their creative and critical thinking. Surrounded by others who will listen to and share their unique ideas helps students to build self-confidence and encourages them to solve problems in new and different ways.
Students will research and learn about famous inventors and inventions both in the past and present. They will also find out about young people who are recognized for their inventions in today’s world. And, they will identify a problem and conceptualize an innovative idea to solve it.
The importance of asking questioning, tapping into their creativity and experiencing failure will be discussed. This course will conclude with a friendly simulation of the television show, “Shark Tank”, in which each student will have the opportunity to present their innovative idea to their classmates, who will provide feedback by deciding if they would invest in the new idea.
This could be the first step in creating your own invention!
