Description
In the United States, most of us rarely interact with railroads, planes, or waterways compared to roads. But that doesn’t mean these “alternative” forms of transportation are any less important! Even if you don’t directly take a train, plane, or boat to get to your destination, these methods of transportation still impact your life.
But how do they impact lives? What value do trains, planes, and waterways add to our society? How do we keep these other modes of transportation operational? And what do pipelines do, anyway?
This course will explore non-road transportation of goods and people in the United States. These shipping routes are truly the backbone of our economy and culture.
