“I chose to major in chemistry because it was the most interesting and challenging subject I have ever encountered. Unfortunately, many people don’t enjoy chemistry because their chemistry courses were overwhelming, or perhaps they haven’t yet learned the most fascinating components. I cannot wait to share my excitement about chemistry with your student!” ~ Prof. Patrick

Do you want to take your chemistry knowledge to the next level?

Patrick’s favorite subject is chemistry, but he has found the subject challenging at many points. Often, it is possible to read about a concept and think you understand it, but the concept escapes your mind when you need to apply the concept! Chemistry can also build on itself, meaning that topics can quickly become overly complex and confused. Instead of vaguely covering many ideas simultaneously, Patrick emphasizes helping students truly understand material.

Some students easily learn and understand concepts in chemistry and the depth of material in chemistry courses will be lacking for them. In fact, many chemistry sequences tend to oversimplify material until the college level! This can be very unsatisfying as students rarely get to learn some of the most interesting details. Patrick has a deep understanding of chemistry, so students will discover and learn about topics that are normally glossed over.

Students can also get stuck on understanding chemistry concepts. Learning chemistry can quickly become complex and overwhelming, especially when courses rapidly move from topic to topic. Chemistry problem solving in particular is difficult because there are usually multiple concepts, all interacting with each other, that come into play! Patrick has experience with chemistry topics and problem solving–and knows what it’s like to struggle with difficult concepts and problems. Students will gain a stronger understanding of the material and work through related practice–while also enjoying the learning process!
