My mom saw an ad on Facebook for the PBS Writers Contest and she thought it might be something I wanted to do – and it was!
I really like reading and making up my own stories. The theme for the story contest was”Writing my future,” and the stories could be silly or serious. They could also be fiction or non-fiction. I decided to do a little bit of both! The hardest part was making sure I didn’t write more than the rules allowed.
Art is NOT my favorite subject, so the illustrations took a long time and a lot of work. I had to practice a lot, and I watched a ton of YouTube tutorials to learn how to draw stuff like alligators and cockroaches. Some of the pictures took so long to figure out that I nearly gave up, but my mom and grandma encouraged me and I didn’t. From now on, though, I think I’II just stick to writing my future and see if someone else wants to do the drawing.
I really liked writing this story. I hope everyone who reads it likes it too, and that they’ll vote for it to win the Reader’s Choice Award!
PS – I was never scared of butterflies. That was one of the fiction parts.
