This is a combined level Latin reading class.  We will focus on grammar, reading, and comprehension through our exploration of comedic Latin authors, such as Martial, Juvenal, Catullus, and Plautus.

By picking some of the most amusing of these author’s readings and going into depth into them, students will have the opportunity to keep up their Latin skills over the summer.  They will be able to push themselves to learn some new skills or master the ones they have already learned.  They will be exposed to authors they perhaps have not yet read before and to readings they are unfamiliar with.  And, hopefully, they will join together as a group to find laugh out loud moments in these Latin texts.

    Note to Parents:

    • All students who have taken a year of Introductory Latin through Athena’s Advanced Academy are welcome to join. Students with Latin experience elsewhere are also very welcome, but should email me to ensure that they have the requisite knowledge to be successful.
